Planned Parenthood Rally

This Saturday I participated in the rally in support of Planned Parenthood in Foley Square. As you may know, a Congressional bill recently passed in the House of Representatives that would cut an incredibly significant amount of federal funding for Planned Parenthood, which offers essential care like cancer screenings in addition to services for reproductive health. The fact that it has already gotten this far is very disturbing, but I was encouraged to see over 5,000 people gather in solidarity in New York. The speakers included riot grrl (and personal idol) Kathleen Hanna, as well as New York politicians and feminists. I was especially excited to see John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats play two songs: “Jenny” and “Color in Your Cheeks.”  Check out the video below:
